Jean Claude Tinguely Senior Engineer

JCT is a senior researcher in the optics group with experience in integrated optics, micro- and nanofabrication, optical and electron microscopy and surface/colloidal chemistry. He is in charge of gases, chemical waste, safety training, and assists with procurements, shipments and lab management.

As a researcher in the 3D nanoscopy group, my primary focus is on translational medicine, constantly striving to bridge the gap between research and societal impact. This principle drives me to engage in various innovative activities that facilitate the practical application of research findings. My work is situated at the nexus of biology, imaging physics, image analysis, and material science. I firmly believe that a multidisciplinary approach is essential for advancing both science and society.

I am a Ph.D. student at Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi under the co-supervision of Prof Krishna. My research and innovation activities orient towards label-Free optical techniques for biological applications. My interest lies in exploring the optical techniques for non-invasive diagnosis of chronic diseases which is commonly referred to
as optical biopsy.

I am a Master’s student in Applied Physics and Mathematics at UiT. My thesis focuses on developing a multi-angle illumination microscope to reconstruct the refractive index distributions of samples. Additionally, I contribute to the innovative Spermotile project at UiT as an engineer. In my free time, I enjoy bouldering, reading fiction, composing music, and designing video games.

I am a bachelor’s student in Biomedicine at UiT. My thesis focuses on the implementation of a new DNA fragmentation test for sperm cell evaluation. In addition, I am contributing to the Spermotile project as a research assistant, where I am involved in developing protocols for sample handling and microscopy analysis. In my free time, I enjoy hiking and skiing in the mountains, as well as watching a good movie or series.
